  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello
I have a blog at a domain MattMasielloMD.com and I wanted a NEW domain and Blog (not combined) – new domain pp4sr.org
I registered the new domain to my account and now they point to the same address.
I would like it to be a completely separate blog.
    Can you help me?

Have you registered a second .wordpress.com blog so you can domain map to it?

    re: mapping an existing domain
WordPress.com does not accept domain transfers but mapping an existing domain is possible.

Domain mapping of an existing domain URL that you already own and purchased elsewhere means you will have to renew the domain name purchase where you made it and the domain mapping purchase here, each and every year.

Mapping an existing domain costs $13. annually and a domain name purchase and domain mapping are included in the Premium upgrade bundle.

In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com sub-domain blog to map from and it does not matter what that underlying .wordpress.com URL is. It does not have to match the domain URL.

If you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the WordPress.COM blog, and as you own a domain URL already, you can see here for mapping an existing domain. http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

For payment, wordpress.COM accepts all major credit and debit cards, and you can also pay directly through your PayPal account.
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

It can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

If you have registered a second .wordpress.com blog under the same username account so you can domain map to it then see here for transferring upgrades https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#transferring-upgrades

Thank you for the responses, but I’m still lost

I had 1 domain (MattMasielloMD.com) and I thought i was getting a second SEPARATE domain (pp4sr.org) but they both point to the exact same site.
I am looking for a way to make them 2 different sites and I seem to be lost.

Not to worry. As I said above I already tagged this thread for Staff help. All you have to do now is to be patient while waiting for them to help you.

  • Hi, @led203

You will first need to create a new free address, then we can transfer the domain to that address. Each WordPress.com site has a free URL, e.g. mygroovysite.wordpress.com. Even if you want to use a custom domain, that free address must come first, as that’s where the site’s content will actually be hosted.

To create a new site, click on My Sites ->Switch Site, and look for Add New WordPress at the bottom. Follow the prompts to create a new free site, and on the screen where you select a domain, select only a free domain.

Once you’ve done that, let me know the URL of the new site, and I can transfer the domain to that site for you.

    Thank you
    My new site is pp4sr.wordpress.com
I would like the domain pp4sr.org transferred

  • I have transferred the domain to that site for you.

Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

Not to sound ungrateful, but when i go to http://www.pp4sr.org it still brings me to mattmasiellomd.com
What still needs to be done?

  • The old site is most likely still stuck in your browser’s cache. Please refresh the page using Cmd-S, or clear your browser cache and cookies and it should load the correct site.

When I click that link it opens the site titled, Pediatric Professionals For Social Responsibility.
