Premium Acct./Domain Hosting
-
I signed up for the Premium account yesterday (in two week trail period currently) and would would like to host my domain (and ONLY this doman…no blogs please…) jproctor.me
However, the site STILL prompts me to upgrade to premium and wants to charge another $25 for hosting my domain when the premium account should already support this feature… Am I missing something? Please assist asap!!

Are you clear on these?
This is a blogging platform.
A blog is a post based website.
No one can purchase a domain mapping upgrade and apply the domain URL to a .wordpress.com blog URL that does not exist. -
In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/ and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
After you have registered a .wordpress.com blog you log in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog from the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades.
See here if you do not own a domain http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/
See here for mapping an existing domain that you already own http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Dashboard > Store > My Upgrades is where you do the primary blog set up knowing it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.

Yes I am clear on what a blog is… I would like to use the domain i purchased and host on a wordpress platform.
The premium version accommodates custom domains, yes?
-
What do you mean by premium version?
There is no premium version of anything here except the Premium upgrades to a .wordpress.com blog.
It’s impossible to purchase any upgrade without providing the WordPress.COM blog URL for it to be applied to. -
I deleted the blog because i ONLY want the jproctor.me (which i own).
That being the case, can i get refunded for the premium account which listed “custom domains” as a feature?
-
You still aren’t getting this. You need to register an underlying.wordpress.com blog URL and it doesn’t matter which one it is in order to map from the .wordpress.com URL to the domain at http://jproctor.me
You can confirm your billing history at > Dashboard > Store > Billing History and that’s where the transaction numbers are found.
Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you ought to be able to request a refund from your dashboard > Store > My Upgrades
WordPress.com provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.

Note: It takes from 1 – 2 weeks for the refund to be received. This thread is also tagged for a Staff follow-up. Subscribe to it please so your are notified when they reply.

I have set up wordpress sites before where there was no blog present and the domain was purchased elsewhere – softtailspirits.com for example.

Oh Really? Then they were not WordPress.COM blogs hosted on this multiuser blogging platform. They were free standing WordPress.ORG installs. Read the comparison please > http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
P.S. Understand that Staff are days even weeks behind when it comes to providing support so taking cheap shots at any Volunteer here can mean we click out and your thread will twist in the wind.

softtailspirits.com – is a WordPress.ORG install running 3.8.1
As explained above you map a custom domain name to a WordPress.COM blog and the custom domain name is overlaid on top of the blog so visitors see the custom domain name when they visit –
That is the way it works here even for the VIP program that starts at $ 30,000/ year – Techcrunch.com & Hackaday.com have their underlying WordPress.COM blogs – just as my site here and timethiefs have –

Morning Morning @TT – at least the snow here went in the mountain passes & closed them – just rain here
take care & have a nice week

Progress! In understanding what I was looking for, it might have been easier to mention the .org in the first place.
P.S. As volunteers, is your goal to help the person, or insult their intelligence whenever you get the chance?
P.P.S. ^ Rhetorical question.

You posted this:
Haven’t had your coffee yet, eh?
So you know where you can lodge your rhetorical question.
