Premium and domains
-
Hi, I manage two WP sites with two different domains. The sites are identical but wrote in two different languages:
esalencalifornianmassage.com – ENG
massaggiocaliforniano.net – ITA
the english one is with a domain purchased with wp.com, the other with register.it and work with map-domain wp extension.
The first big mistake was purchase the domain with another maintainer then I did make site in WP: a lot of problem with email and other stuff.
In the last (and first) year I did use both sites almost like static pages sites, but in the future I’m going to use more like a blog and posts. So I don’t like the ads, and I’m thinking to move to premium account to do that. Anywhere I saw premium feature including a domain. I’de like migrate to wp the one I’ve got now with the other mainteiner. Can I do that?
Wich is the more convenient way for me to migrate the domain to wp.com (accepting to will be off any days with that domain) and work with both blogs without adv?Thank you,
LorisThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Loris,
Hello there!
Anywhere I saw premium feature including a domain. I’de like migrate to wp the one I’ve got now with the other mainteiner.
The premium upgrade does indeed include a domain name and mapping. However, WordPress.com doesn’t allow for incoming domain transfers. You can register domains with us, but we can’t accept existing domains.
If you do upgrade to Premium for your Italian site, you can use the domain mapping that is included in the package to maintain the connection from your WordPress.com site, to your domain, massaggiocaliforniano.net.
You can certainly register a NEW domain for your Italian site here at WordPress.com, but only if you feel as if your traffic won’t be interrupted from your old domain.
I thought the following link may assist you in setting up your sites, as you are planning on using more of a blog format:

What mean?
If I understand well, I can purchase “premium package” and use domain mapping. Then I can stop maintainer service on my domain and after repurchase the same domain (massaggiocaliforniano.net) from wp.
Is that right?
Or stop the old service and then purchase “premium” with the same old domain?
In both ways maybe there will be some days that domain will not work, or not? -

I do NOT advise this. When you cancel a domain, it may not be possible for you to regain control of the domain name again. There is no guarantee that if you cancel massaggiocaliforniano.net at register.it that you will be able to buy it at WordPress.com.
My suggestion is for you to KEEP your domain where it is. You already have mapped your domain to your WordPress.com site, and it is working well. I believe you should keep it this way.
You can purchase premium, for the Italian WordPress.com site, but you will only have to use the domain mapping feature. You will not have to register a domain name, since it’s already at register.it.
If I can help further, please let me know. Many thanks.

Ok, I think will follow your advice.
Sometimes it’s difficult for me accepting several troubles with email generated because having two different maintainers, so try an escape from this ;)
Thanks a lot.

I don’t blame you :)
If you wanted to change your whole domain name, I’d absolutely advise you to register a new one here. However, in your current position, I do think staying as you are is the best idea.
If I can help with anything else, just let me know. Best of luck!
