Premium Features

Hey, I know it probably says this, but here is where I get confused. With a Premium account you get a custom domain name. What I don’t understand does the $99 cover the cost of registering that name and hosting it every year (I think it cost $13 or $18/month of you bring your own name over…or is that per year cost?)
Also, let’s say I decide to leave, can I take that domain name with me?
Thanks,
LloydThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Once you buy a domain name it’s portable and can be moved to another site but do note that the purchase is good for only a single year and for a single blog. If you allow the domain URL to expire there is no guarantee you will get it back.

A self-hosted WordPress site might be right for you. WordPress.org offers free software that you can install on a web server. You can upload and install themes and plugins, run ads, conduct ecommerce and edit the database. Learn about the differences here. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Important Notes Before Upgrading http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#important-notes-before-upgrading
All About Domains http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/all-about-domains/In order to map to a domain one must have an underlying .wordpress.com subdomain blog to map from and the domain name you desire must be available for purchase, or you must already own the domain URL.
You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard at > Store > My Upgrades to purchase a domain name by purchasing an annually renewable domain mapping upgrade for the blog.

After you do the primary blog set up it can take between 24 – 72 hours for domain name propagation to take place throughout the internet. You can view the DNS changes here > http://www.whatsmydns.net/ What’s important during that stage is to be patient.
