Premium (not paywall) content for subscribers?
-
I would like to set up content that is only available to subscribers to my newsletter. But I don’t want to use a premium block as there is no money involved. I know I can set the page to private and provide a password, but that’s clumsy.
Is there any way to make a page accessible only to newsletter subscribers? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Looks like this question has been asked many times over the years in different ways… and the answer has been “no.”
Um, as a paying customer, I say this: It is a very wide marketing practice to offer newsletter subscribers premium or exclusive content just for being a subscriber. The premium block is perfect for this except that it needs a “free” option.
I did read something somewhere that said you could set up a subscriber’s only site, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. For subscribers to receive posts in a newsletter, the post must be pubic, which means, by definition, it is not a subscriber’s only post (or site.)
I’m surprised you haven’t implemented such a thing. For the first time ever, I am actually going shopping for a new platform. -
Hi there,
There is not a “free” option for the Premium Content block at this time, but I have shared this feedback with our product team as it is something they may consider for future updates. For now though, as you note the only way to protect a page for free access is to set a password and then share that password in your newsletter so only subscribers receive it.
You also have the option to upgrade to the Business Plan and use a 3rd party membership plugin. Some of these 3rd party solutions may offer a free option you can use. https://wordpress.com/plugins/?s=memberships

Thanks for getting back to me and thanks for pointing me to the plugin option with the business plan.
