Premium plan – transfer domain registration in?

We’re going to upgrade to Premium plan. Our domain (www.eastlondonchorus.org.uk) is already registered at 1and1. I’d like to bring it in to be registered at WP.com so everything is “under one roof.”
But if I’ve understood https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/#transferring-a-domain-to-wordpress-com I can’t. Is that right?
If I can, please can you advise how?
Otherwise, I assume I find and follow instructions about domain mapping.
It’s a shame if this option isn’t available and I hope WP.com will make it available soon. The cost of Premium plans includes domain registration and it’s a pity not to be able to make use of that. And would be easier for us to have everything managed and paid for in one place.

Seems like someone has already tagged this thread for Staff attention, so an official response regarding its available might be arriving soon!
But you’re correct that transferring domain names to WordPress.com isn’t currently supported. Mapping is the only option at the moment for externally-registered domains.

Hi, we don’t have that capability at this time. I’d recommend renewing the domain where it is for now, and using these mapping instructions to make it work with your site:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/If we’re able to set up a way to transfer domains to our registrar, we’ll announce that on our blog ( en.blog.wordpress.com ) . Cheers!

Thanks. I hadn’t realised about the announcement blog so will try to keep an eye on that for this and other developments.
