Premium Plans

  Dear WordPress Support,

  My name is Dustin Staats. I am designing a site for my English Language business. I would like to purchase a premium plan for my site.

  Currently, I would like to purchase the Premium plan so I can get my site up in running by using my own domain name and monetizing my site. Eventually, though, I would like to have full control of the site by either purchasing the Business plan or transferring over to wordpress.org. I have a couple of questions regarding this:

  If I purchase the Premium plan now and decide to either purchase the Business plan in the next couple of months or decide to transfer the site to wordpress.org, will I be refunded for part of the payment for the Premium plan that I did not use? Or will I be able to apply that payment towards further purchases?

  Do you have any recommendations as to which route to take? My main concern now is having my own domain name, and eventually’ I would like to have full control of my site.

  Howdy Dustin –

  Thanks for getting in touch about these questions. I’ll be glad to help sort these out.

  If I purchase the Premium plan now and decide to either purchase the Business plan in the next couple of months or decide to transfer the site to wordpress.org, will I be refunded for part of the payment for the Premium plan that I did not use?   If you upgrade from Premium to Business before your initial Premium upgrade expires, you’ll only pay the difference between the 2 plans.

  If you cancel a plan upgrade within 30 days of purchase you will be refunded the full amount of the plan. Cancelling the plan after 30 days will not result in a refund.

  It sounds like you already own your domain, in this situation you’ll set up your Premium plan with Domain Mapping.

  Thank you for the advice!

  I actually do not own a domain yet. So, if I choose to go with the Premium plan can I switch it over to wordpress.org then?

  Hi Dustin,

  You can get a custom domain through the Personal Plan, this is the most affordable plan on WordPress.com.

  The domain, and content belong to you. You can transfer it anytime you want.
