Premium purchased, do I still have to purchase a theme?

  I wanted the Modern News theme and thought I needed to upgrade to Premium in order to get it. However it looks as though I still need to purchase this theme. Did I upgrade for nothing? Could I have purchased the theme without upgrading and kept my free site?

  Yes. Premium themes are not included in the Premium upgrade bundle. Premium bundle details http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ They have to be purchased separately. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/premium-themes/
