Hi, does the premium plan allow you to create a shopping page that you can take credit cards on?

Hi @lahutch4200,
i, does the premium plan allow you to create a shopping page that you can take credit cards on?
Premium Plan is not what you would want for this. This feature will be supported by WordPress.com eCommerce Plan.
Best :)

Hello @lahutch4200,
Thanks for posting your queston!
If your website is hosted on WordPress.com premium plan allows you to sell products or services online and also adding payment plugins using WordPress.com store option learn more from here: https://wordpress.com/support/?s=shopping+cart
Please note that this forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source version of WordPress.org software you need to seek help from WordPress.org forum with the link below:

Hi there,
You can sell single products and receive payment for them via PayPal using the Simple Payments feature included in the Premium Plan, yes.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/simple-payments/
But for a fully integrated online shop you’d need the Business or eCommerce plan, so you can install an ecommerce plugin like WooCommerce (pre-installed on the ecommerce plan).

Hi,
Thank you for the response. If I got the Business plan, would I need an SSL certificate, and a host, like from Bluehost? We created a free site on WordPress. Also, where do I get WooCommerce?
Thanks for the help,
Laura -
Your free site has SSL as standard as it would if you upgraded it to a Business plan. Your free site is hosted here at WordPress.com as it would be if you upgraded it to a Business plan. You’d find WooCommerce under “plugins” in your dashboard.

Hi @lahutch4200, If you upgrade to a Business plan, you don’t need to worry about SSL and FTP as these are all things that will be managed for you by the WP.com staff.
Once upgraded, you can then install WooCommerce by going to My Site > Tools > Plugins and searching for “WooCommerce”. If you upgrade to the eCommerce plan instead, WooCommerce will be pre-installed for you.
You can read more about the Business Plan here https://wordpress.com/support/business-plan/
I hope this is helpful!

Thank you! Do I need a host once we publish our website? Also, does WooCommerce charge us a monthly fee for accepting credit cards? Or are there credit card usage fees?
-
Hi, @lahutch4200,
If you are upgrading your free WordPress.com site to any of the offered plans in here, your site is already hosted on WordPress.com. You do not need to worry about buying a hosting anywhere else. The WooCommerce comes pre-installed in eCommerce Plan. You only pay the yearly subscription fee for the plan you subscribe to. There is no separate charge for using WooCommerce and WooCommerce also does not charge a monthly fee for accepting credit cards.
There may however be a transaction fee charged by your payment processor for every transaction you make which is a very nominal percentage amount.
Hope this helps.
Best :)

Thanks so much for the help everybody. I think we’re going to upgrade to the Business plan, I just have one last question. Would our website be backed up daily automatically or do we have to do it manually? We don’t want to risk losing everything if there’s a hack, crash, or just an accident while editing the site. Thank you!
-
Hi @lahutch4200,
With WordPress.com Business Plan you get Automated Backup & One‑Click Rewind feature so you do not have to worry about backing up of your site manually.
You can have your peace of mind with the WordPress Business Plan.
Best :)

Yes, sites with the Business Plan are backed up every day via Jetpack Backups:
Sites on our Business plan also have access to download entire site backups from the Activity page through Jetpack. There’s more information on these Jetpack backups here.
