Preservation, archiving, deleting

The time has come for me to conclude my business’ website, but I don’t want to loose what we built. Is there a way to archive/preserve the website offline so that I am able to view it in the future?

Hi there, you can change your site’s Privacy Settings from Public to Private. That way it will no longer be visible to the public or search engines, but you’ll still be able to log in to view it (hang on to your log in info!) and send an invitation to anyone else you want to allow access. More on this in this support guide https://wordpress.com/support/settings/privacy-settings/

Keep in mind that changing site privacy or deleting a site from WPcom does not immediately remove it from search engine results. It can take 4-6 weeks before they recrawl and reindex your site and remove it from their cache. If you need that taken down sooner, you’ll need to follow the procedure for removal at each of the search engines’ support. WPcom has no control over that.

Post back here if you have further questions about this.
