Preserving post IDs in blog import

    I’m trying to import a WordPress (v.2.3.1) blog to wordpress.com. Unfortunately, the post ID are not preserved (they are reassigned in ascending order). Furthermore, the permalink structure is different (the wordpress.com admin view does not let me chose my preferred format, which is ?p=).

    All work arounds I’ve read about involve changing WP scripts, which I don’t have access to on wordpress.com.

    Is there a way for me to migrate my blog while preserving both post IDs and permalink format?

    I am afraid not. I see where you are going with this since people will click on on old permalinks or google searches and it will bring you to a completely different post since the numbers are different. Not something that can be done on wp.com though.
