I recently clicked on press this at the end of a blog I had written back in July. it reappeared on on my facebook page and was resent to followers. I had close to 200 hits in 24 hours which is way more than I ever had in the past. What happens when I click on “press this”?

The Press This button let’s you share a post on your WordPress. When you clicked on the Press This button, you basically reblogged your post. It sounds like you reposted it at the perfect time!

I apparently reposted Huatulco on carolbryantblog.wordpress.com. I can’t believe the number of views it received. How did people find it? It had far more views than I have followers.

It looks like the post was automatically shared to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
Its possible that since the post didn’t have an extra blurb that let your social media connections read the beginning of the post, they were more likely to click through to see what it was about.
I took a look at the stats for that particular day:

It looks like the bulk of your visitors came from Facebook.
