Pressable vs wordpress.com

Understand that Pressable is a different company from wordpress.com, with the ability to host multiple blogs under a single account. Can I expect a similar level of reliability, support, and ease-of-use (wordpress as a service) from Pressable as wordpress.com?

  • Hi there,

Pressable is a managed hosting provider for the open source version of WordPress. What that means is they manage the core WordPress files for you, just like we do on WordPress.com, but there you’ll have access to the full open source version of WordPress, not the modified version we offer on WordPress.com, and you have access to the database, FTP access to your files, some measure of control over server configuration, etc, like you would at any other traditional hosting provider. Pressable is not a “wordpress as a service” provider like you put it, like WordPress.com. But all Pressable sites do come with the Jetpack plugin pre-installed so you can manage those sites via your WordPress.com account.

I’m afraid I don’t know to what extent they support the WordPress software itself – most hosting providers only provide support related to the hosting plan, not for the actual software. It would be best if you contacted Pressable directly to ask about that.

But we do recommend Pressable as a hosting provider for the open source version of WordPress, based on the reliability and stability of their hosting setup.
