Pressgram plugin for WP.com blogs

    Hi,

    I’d like to propose that the Pressgram plugin be added to support wp.com hosted blogs.

    Reasons to add this:
    1) The Pressgram app makes it easy to upload photos to your blog, and provides an Instagram-like feed for Pressgram users. This means more content is hosted on your blog, many of which are on wp.com. The app has launched and is doing well, seeing a rapid growth in users.

    2) The plugin makes it so that the Pressgram photos don’t show in the main feed, making it easier for blog visitors to find the longer posts without the “clutter” of your personal Pressgrams.

    3) The benefit to wp.com is more traffic and pageviews, and possibly more users, since to use the app, you need a wordpress blog. But without the plugin, a blog could become cluttered and unattractive.

    4) Having active and happy Pressgram users results in actively updated and fresh blogs and content for wp.com.

    @shotbyjenny Plugins can’t be used on WordPress.com, so it would have to be a widget. (The only thing I’m not sure about is if it would be possible to post to a separate category, thereby avoiding cluttering up the homepage, as you mentioned, and also going out to people’s inboxes who are subscribed to your blog.) I agree, though, that there should be something for WordPress.com-powered blogs and I would love to use it for my blogs. If a lot of WordPress.org users are using the Pressgram plugin, Automattic might consider adding it to their WordPress.com widget lineup.
