Pressrow – How to center top menu?

  • Unknown's avatar

Any idea how to get the top menu to center over the header? Messing around last night, we were able to get it to align to the right (which also flipped the order of the links). And we got it to center, but it stacked the links one on top of the other. I want them to be in a line like they are originally, but just centered left to right.

    Thanks
    Kris

    Kris:

Play with blank spaces in your page titles. Don’t edit the permalink, jut the title.

Won’t adding spaces make it potentially look different in different browsers? I had played around with letter spacing and the padding earlier today. And if looked centered in FF, then it was still shifted left in Safari. And if it centered up in Safari, it dropped down to 2 lines in FF.

Is it the “float” command that makes it impossible to center?

Yes of course it will look different in various browsers, and most likely it will be different on screens with different resolutions.

But you don’t have many choices with what you can do with titles.
strong, em, and no-break spaces work. Oh and the trick to link an to a site.

Perhaps with a CSS upgrade, it may be different? I have no experience with CSS, but if you want to try, you can do so for free:

Oh, I didn’t know padding would work in titles!

yeah, I got the upgrade. And with some trial and error have been able to figure out most of what I want to do. I just can’t seem to get the language right to get it to center.

OK. Then perhaps start a new thread about how to use CSS to center your nav bar.

As I said, I have no CSS experience. But there must be a way to have you header as a live link to your home page. As it is, search engines see no title for your blog. Try something with absolute positioning to cover the innate wordpress title.

Look at my blog’s source code to see what I mean?
