Prevent New User Creation

  Hello,
  
  Can someone help me figure out how to disable new user creation for a client site?
  
  I’ve disabled the checkbox “Anyone can register” in the General Settings tab already, but I still get a regular flow of spam new user requests, and can’t figure out how to block this.
  
  I also noticed that the number of users showing up in the tab is different than the actual users. I’ve deleted the spam users, but this number still shows them. Not a big deal, but kind of annoying.

  Hi, the website you are referring is not hosted in WordPress.com but with an external hosting provider. You can refer to WordPress.com vs WordPress.org for more details.

  Your can contact your hosting provider for help or you can also try to put your request in the WordPress.org forum

  Having said that, and yes, WordPress™ org is the place to ask about this, we’ve answered this so many times here…

  You should be able to disable new user registrations (“Anyone can register) in your dashboard at WP-Admin ->Settings ->General
