Prevent Right-Clicking!!!
-
Hello All,
I’m sure there are a lot of photographers, like me, and creators out there uploading photos and videos and whatnot onto their WP site. We need a plug-in that prevents right-clicking to protect our hard work!! I wish there was a petition we could sign… Please add this plug-in soon, WP!!
Thanks,
BrittanyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
There is no FTP access and no blogger installed plugin capability on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/See here for a full comparison WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/There is no upgrade you can purchase here that provides FTP access and the ability to install plugins and or any third party themes. If you want FTP access and to install plugins or third party themes then you will have to hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting/ and set up your own WordPress.org install. WordPress.com and WordPress.ORG have different logins.
If you use the Duotone theme right click is disabled. It’s not available on any other themes here and will not become available as it creates a false sense of security. Anyone can find instructions on the internet and get around it in less than 20 seconds flat. What’s best is watermarking your images or not placing any images and/or text you don’t want stolen on the internet at all. If you are referring to images this may help http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2007/10/19/watermark-your-blog-images/

I understand that there is no current plug-in for preventing right-clicking. I am simply adding to the pool of people who would like that plug-in to be added as an option for WordPress.com users in the future. I don’t see why it should be hard to add, especially since it is a very popular request. For photographers, the whole point of creating a blog with WordPress is to add photos and show off their work that will, hopefully, entice potential clients. Sometimes watermarking alone is not enough to prevent theft, and preventing right-clicking will help to dissuade people from stealing.

It creates a false sense of security because anyone can defeat it easily.
but quite accurate – don’t put it on the web if you don’t want someone to copy it – that is why I limit the size of pictures on my history site and watermark them – make the thieves work a bit
