Prevent slideout menu from closing when clicking on parent item?

  I’m using a theme that has a slideout menu. You click the menu icon, the menu slides out & then when you click a menu item it should display the submenu items.

  Instead clicking a menu item closes the menu and then when you reopen it the submenu items are displayed.

  Basically the first menu items should just reveal the submenu when clicked, not close the menu. I have no idea how to fix this or where to begin…

  See the response by @pauloeaquino in the topic Change page title colour? If you’re referring to the same or another self-hosted site, then most of what he said there applies here as well.
