“Preview” button generating Page Not Found
-
Hi – for my blog, http://sarahockler.com, when I’m creating a post in the Edit Post page, I used to be able to save the draft and preview it before publishing. Now, when I click the preview button (after saving the draft), it generates a page that shows my blog header and sidebars with a Page Not Found error where the post content should be. Same thing happens when I schedule a post for a future date and try to view it.
Works fine when I actually publish the post for immediate viewing – just not preview.
Thanks for any help!

Give this a try: Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again.

I’m having a similar problem, but when I save the draft then click the Preview button it loads a page that says “Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.”

Yes, I even tried using a totally different browser that hadn’t visited the site before, still cleared cache and cookies, with exactly the same result.

My blog is hosted at our own domain, not at wordpress, so apparently I can’t submit a support request.

If you are hosting your own domain, using wordpress.ORG software, then you must seek help here:
http://wordpress.org/support/wp.COM and wp.ORG are not the same:

Thanks for your help. I’m using wordpress.org, and wordpress.org/support/ is how I found this forum topic and posted my request for support in the first place. Is there some other way to get support or another forum area where I can get a more specific answer?

oh, I see this is wordpress.com support, so maybe I didn’t find this thru there… I’ll try posting in the .org support forum

Aye, it can be confusing. If you are asking about a blog like http://scottmaui.wordpress.COM, then this is the right forum.
But if you are paying to host your blog somewhere, then this is not your place. Our software is different.

Hi the sacredpath – thanks for the suggestion. I tried it out with no luck. I also tried using a different browser (Safari rather than Firefox) and on an entirely different computer with the same results. Today I noticed, too, that the stats are counting my own visits to pages, even when I’m logged in, and I no longer have the option to “edit this post” from the post page itself (I have to do that through the dashboard).
For comparison, I also contribute to another wordpress.com blog and I’m not having any of these issues there, so it’s apparently not the browser or cache issue.
I appreciate any other ideas you might have. I’m def. on WordPress.com, too.
Thanks again!

For the stats thing, you need to clear your browser cookies. That is how wordpress keeps track of whether you are logged into your account or not. If that doesn’t fix it, then you need to contact staff directly – on the other issue as well.

I’ve been having the same preview problem as scottmaui intermittently, plus my blog stats graphs disappear completely. But the problems only occur when I use IE8, not FF.
I sent screenshots to Support when it started, and after a couple of days the problem fixed itself, but now it’s back again. Something is interfering with my blogsite, but the only solution I’ve found so far is to use the browser that works.

With IE8, try setting compatibility view on or off to see if that makes a difference.

Thank you for the reminder, tsp.
Support suggested that and I was about to try it when the problem temporarily resolved itself.
