preview changes
-
If I edit something, and then go to preview changes, there doesn’t seem to be any direct way to return to the editing screen with my proposed changes. The back button is grayed out. (Not is there a way to simply save my changes from the preview screen.) If I use the “edit post” then it takes me to the edit page but tells me “there is an autosave of this post which is more recent..” So is that the answer, that I have to select the version I want? Is there no way to simply get back to where I was, or am I missing something really obvious? Thanks!

The post or page preview typically opens a new window or a new browser tab – at least that is what it does for me. I just return to the previous tab that the editor is open in.

You are right of course. I wasn’t even paying attention to the tabs that were open – so the answer is “missing something really obvious.” Thanks for not rubbing my nose in it!!

I’m going to bump this topic because ‘thesacredpath’ described a feature that I’m not getting. I used to be able to “preview changes” and it would open a new tab but now that’s not working and I’m not sure how to fix it. I’ll keep investigating but does anyone have any tips or troubleshooting suggestions? (I have only edited the pages.php to comment out this code:

If you can access the php and edit it then you are in the wrong forum and posting here means you will confuse others. Bloggers at wordpress.COM CANNOT access the underlying php and html for their templates.
