It seems that ‘preview’ does not work any more. It says ‘page not found’

Hey @janenorthcote, thank you for letting us know. We’ve seen a few cases like this recently.
When you preview in a new tab, can you copy the URL you are getting and share that here?
-
I’m getting the same error when I try to Preview a post that I have scheduled.
The address bar when it is displaying the error is “https://blog.wwayneb.com/?p=2802&preview_id=2802&preview_nonce=783f3756f6&preview=true”
The text of the message when I get the error is:
Not Found
Apologies, but the page you requested could not be found. Perhaps searching will help.

Thanks for letting us know, @williamwayneb. For now if you use https://blog.wwayneb.com/?p=2802&preview_id=2802 (cut off the other parts) it should work. We’ll add your report to the case!

That didn’t work. I get the same error message.
When asked for a “preview in a new tab” for a different test post that I hadn’t scheduled, it went to the same error page. The URL for this alternative case was “https://blog.wwayneb.com/?p=2809&preview=true”

Hi, @williamwayneb!
That didn’t work. I get the same error message.
When asked for a “preview in a new tab” for a different test post that I hadn’t scheduled, it went to the same error page. The URL for this alternative case was “https://blog.wwayneb.com/?p=2809&preview=true”
I checked your site, and tried the following:
- Posts → All Posts → Scheduled
- Clicked on the 3-dots button and chose the “Preview”

and
- Posts → All Posts → Scheduled → “A Shining Star of Hope”
- Clicked the preview button and then the “Preview in new tab”

Both methods worked, and I could see the scheduled post preview — can you please try the above steps?
💡 As a side note, the
preview_nonceis not a fixed parameter in the URL, and it’s generated randomly, so opening the link with an oldpreview_noncewill undoubtedly result in a 404 page. -
You’re first example worked for me. I wasn’t aware of that technique to get a preview so I can use that.
However, the second one still fails for me. It’s the one that I was trying to use when I made my report. I’m not sure what the difference between our situations is.
Is there anything I can do to help solve the problem?

Excellent! Glad to hear this

We’ve notified our developers about this, and they’re working on locating the culprit causing this issue. Hopefully, it will be addressed soon! 🤞🏻
Until then, we appreciate your patience, and thank you for confirming that you’re able to check the preview from the posts list page! ⭐️
