Preview doesn’t match Post edit. Soooooo frustrated!!!

I’m putting images in a draft. Everything looks right. Images and text are where I want them. I save the draft and then look at the preview. Suddenly it’s all messed up. Images are jammed up next to each other; text is shoved here and there. I go back to ‘edit’ mode and it’s screwed up the same way as the preview was.
This doesn’t happen all the time, but it does happen. What the holy hell is going on?

I’m posting my blogs online. I don’t use the downloaded editor, for what that’s worth.

I’ve worked on this one draft for an hour. I even deleted it and restarted and it’s STILL screwing up. WTF WordPress?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m guessing that posting this in ‘Support’ doesn’t mean WordPress will give any?

The Visual Editor is not precisely a “What you see is what you get” system. It is generic because each theme is different: different post-column widths, different fonts, etc.

So what you see in the editor will always look different in the published post.

Here are some articles about image alignment and size and how it affects text:

Staff generally don’t post in the forum; it’s pretty much volunteer-run.

What I THINK you’re saying here is that you organize your post and format it IN the dashboard Write Post box, so it displays well there. Then Preview doesn’t look like you’ve organized it.

That’s because your theme and the Write Post box are not the same size. Optimizing for the Write Post box will always mess up your formatting.

You might try an off-line editor. I believe they will allow you to set up specifically for your theme.

These forums are manned by volunteers, your fellow bloggers (though staff looks in often) and in general, when a volunteer has an answer it will be posted.

Bumping threads also upsets the fabric of space and time.

Sometimes questions are ask so they are confusing, other times questions are specific and only a few people have the knowledge to provide a well crafted answer. Other times the questions indicate that the person asking them has not even read the top article in the support Docs and you then need to wait until someone that is very patient drops by to explain the very basic covered in the quick start Docs.

Many reasons that it can take some time to get an answer. I have also seen replies or answers given in well under 5 minutes. Patience is a virtue when asking for help here. I had one set of questions that had a 12 hour cycle as the person with the very specific skills to answer my questions only stopped by the Forum every 12 hours or so.

If you don’t bump your thread it only has one post in it. Many of us will go back and look at the “no response yet” requests first, when you bump it looks like there has been a response, and you can get overlooked for a while,

Also making any rude remarks to unpaid helpers tend to put many off.

Everyone, thank you for your replies. I’ve been pulling my hair out, what’s left of it, and it’s a terrible feeling when trying to solve a problem like this.
I will look into the links posted and check out offline editors, though I didn’t know they had them for WordPress. Yeah, I don’t get around much.

Auxclass, clearly you can see my frustration come out. I’m boggled that I can post so many blogs and then for no apparent reason one of them refuses to behave.

My attention was drawn to your last remark, so I want to clear up any misunderstanding. I’m not an internet flamer, or drive by insulter. Simply to set the record straight I wasn’t making any rude remarks to anyone. If it came across that way, I apologize for the misunderstanding.

I downloaded Windows Live Writer and it published my posts with no alignment issues other than it doesn’t do picture borders. Hmmmmm…. After I published the post I went into the wordpress editor and applied borders. LOL! It screwed up everything all over again. I deleted the post and republished it from Live Writer sans the borders.

Thanks for all of your help. You’ve made a beast very happy.
