Preview/Editing Problems
-
Good Day everyone,
after using different methods all day, trying to find the root of the problem, I finally have given up on solving this all by myself. I am quite new to wordpress (I literally just joined two days ago), and have not yet grasped all the functionalities that this website has to offer.
But let me first account what happened:
After creating the Homepage, I was quite in the flow and immediately began to create another page B for the website, which I published immediately after I finishing writing it.The next day, I created a blog entry, and I wanted to create a link to this blog entry on page B.
When I clicked on the ‘Edit Page’ button, I was shown a more or less empty page, there was only the heading and some unedited pattern. But the funny thing is, that when I visit the page (on another device, not logged into wordpress), everything is as it should be. This is also the case with the ‘Preview’ option on WordPress itself.
I did not know where the problem was, and after trying to several times to undo the situation without any result, I decided to first write another page C, before coming back to it.Finishing page C, I this time did not publish it and only chose to preview the page. And to my greatest frustration: the Preview showed me the content of page B. This situation did not change, after I deleated page B. The preview vor page C still shows page B’s content.
Now, I do not have any clue as to where it went all wrong, but even less do I know how to fix this situation. I hope everything was explained understandable enough (German is my mother tongue, so I tend to use chain sentences).
Many Thanks in advance for your replies,
With kind regards,Soldier of the Northern Faction

Hey there @cotgtrilogy, it looks like there was a mixup between editing a single page and editing the template for all pages. Somehow you removed the content area from that template. Here’s what I’d recommend:
- Make a page here for your “In the beginning” content: https://wordpress.com/page
- Copy the content over and publish that (or keep it as a draft, as you’d like)
- Fix your page template. You have two options:
- If you don’t have a lot of template changes you want to keep, you can reset the entire page template here. Tap the three dots and reset. Note any changes to the header and footer are separate, so this is a pretty safe option, unless you’ve made extensive changes to the page area itself that need to appear on every page of the site.
- To keep your other changes, edit the template here and add your content block back in. Here’s how. You’ll likely want to remove other paragraphs and stuff (those should be in the page, not the template.)
Want to give that a go? We can help if you need it!

Also if you can give us feedback on this, we’d appreciate it! Currently we have a warning that pops up if you try to remove the content block. If there’s anything that would have made it clearer that block was a placeholder, let us know!

Thank you very much for the reply!
By following your pointers, I have managed to solve the problem.
Have a nice day,
