Preview issues

The “live” page of https://m2labs.wordpress.com/plante/ displays correctly.

This morning I opened the page to perform an edit. When Previewing the page, however, it DID NOT DISPLAY CORRECTLY. Specifically, the background image used was repeating itself.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. When I compared the code for the div id=”background” against the last revision I made back on 11.4.2021 THEY WERE EXACTLY THE SAME.

Took a photo of the two pages side-by-side (Left is the “live” one, Right is the “previewed” one): https://m2labs.files.wordpress.com/2023/03/img_5118.jpg

Not sure what’s happening here, but I’ve experienced this same background-image issue on other Pages, as well.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hello there,

Looking at the HTML there, it doesn’t look like there’s an inline image in place for the where the grid is situated:

    <div id="BELOW-GRAPHIC" style="position: relative; padding: 20px; margin-top: 200px; max-width: 625px; color: #666666; font-size: 8pt; border: 0 solid white;">

This is why the image, wouldn’t show in the live page.

It’s odd that the preview is showing that – it may be picking up cached DIV’s in that HTML.

If you add the image as the background, does it show in the live preview?

There ISN’T a graphic in the div id=”BELOW-GRAPHIC”. There isn’t supposed to be one. There IS, in fact, a table containing both text and graphics – and now I see that the page isn’t displaying correctly at all which is very weird because I didn’t change a thing yesterday and it was fine.

BUT I did notice that the css “background-repeat:no-repeat;” is NO LONGER in the very first div (“background”). I didn’t delete it so who did? Funny that, too. Because when I update the page – after re-inserting that css – “background-repeat:no-repeat;” just disappears…LIKE MAGICK.

I saw this happening about amonth ago regarding SHADOWING on any and all elements – whether I was creating a new Post or updating a current Page. Funny that that problem seems to have magically gone away. Someone took care of the issue about a week ago. Without notifying me, of course.

BTW, I tested the “BELOW-GRAPHIC div by changing the border to reflect a white one and it’s displaying that just fine.

I suggest that something’s wrong with WordPress somewhere. Neither HTML nor CSS should magically “disappear” when updating or creating.

I may be a Witch but I don’t practice THAT kind of Magick – especially on my own code.

Don’t bother responding back because I get no real help from anyone here anymore. You’ve been notified of the issue. Fix it.

BTW, when I look at the last good edit I performed on that page (dated November 24, 2021) – and by good I mean the revision that USED to display just fine – you’ll see that the “background-repeat:no-repeat;” is CLEARLY in the “background” div.

  • Hi there, thank you for clarifying.

This issue is also related to the one you reported here, so I’ve relayed the info around this missing CSS to our team as well: https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/box-shadow-2/

Apologies for that oversight. On our end this still appears as an open issue so it may be the case that a partial fix was deployed by our devs, even though they are still working on related fixes to CSS. When they officially close the issue we will notify you. Thanks for your patience!
