Preview leads to 404 Page Not Found
-
Using the new Block editor I’ve successfully created several new postings, but I have a persistent problem during editing. Every time I try to preview the post before final publishing, I get a “404 Page Not Found” message. This was not a problem with the previous Classic editing system. Is there a way to resolve this, so I can keep previewing the post until I’m ready to publish it?
The automated Quick Response gave the following, which was not helpful:
“Open the post you are trying to preview in the Block editor.
Look for the permalink settings, usually located in the right sidebar under the document settings.
Make sure the permalink is set to a clear and relevant URL structure.
Click the “Update” button to save the changes to the permalink.”This wasn’t helpful because there was no “Document Settings” choice in the right sidebar (nor in the left), so no way to get to the Permalink settings. On the page am editing (the first page of a new post) there is a right sidebar, but it says “Post” and “Block” at the top.
So I’m still stuck without a way to preview my posts before publishing. (The original version of WordPress did have this capability.)
