  I want my posts to have a little preview on the my homepage rather than the whole post as it takes up a lot of room… I’ve interested the ‘read more tag’ where I want the preview to end but nothing is coming up on the home page – I’ve set up a static home page and then a separate page for blog posts and it’s just coming up in that..

  Can anyone tell me how to get the preview in the static home page??

  Hello klytalksbeauty!

  The static front page cannot display the blog’s preview because of its nature: since it doesn’t update, but does only display a defined ‘static’ content, it cannot show anything dynamic such a blog posts’ flow.

  On the other hand, your blog page does display previews, as this page is dynamic and can display your articles stream.

  As the static front page falls into the page category, it’s different from a blog post for many aspects. This page explains the main differences between pages and posts: https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/, I hope this helps clarify it :)
