Previewing Themes

  I have been trying for the last two days to preview new Themes for my blog. I hit the Preview button and a small blue and white bar appears and works and works and works and nothing happens. I know this is something I am probably doing wrong and just need someone to point out what to do or is it possible that because I bought my own domain from WordPress that I can’t switch themes. I am not a .org.
