Previewing themes wiped out part of my sidebar

  Now it is 3 o’clock in the morning, so I am not really going to do an in-depth analysis.

  I was previewing some themes because the theme currently “saved and activated” didn’t have category tags on individual posts.

  Just the act of previewing some of the themes, wiped out the customization of the sidebar widgets. (They only default to one or two items – category, blogroll, etc. But have mine customized to include disclaimers, quotes from famous people, etc.

  It was a straight-forward task to recreate all of that stuff, but selecting “preview theme” really shouldn’t change what was active.

  Sorry to hear that previewing a theme removed sidebar widgets – that definitely shouldn’t have happened; the Preview link should not have made any changes to your live site settings.

  I haven’t seen any other reports of this, so I’m wondering if it’s possible you accidentally activated a theme – or clicked the Save button in the Customizer?

  If this happens again, could you provide a list of the specific steps that led you to your widgets being wiped out? That would be extremely helpful. Thank you for the heads-up, that must have been frustrating!

  OK – I probably won’t be doing much with themes for a while unless I break down and pay for the upgrade. (Not having access to style sheets is more than annoying. There are a couple of themes that would be perfect but for some color choices. Not being able to select something as simple as a sans-serif font would make the one I am using more to my liking…)

  I thought I was pretty careful NOT to hit save. Though I was adding header images – to see how they would look when cropped.

  If I go on a hunt for a new theme, I will go slower, and document everything. In the meantime you can mark this as “resolved”

  Not being able to select something as simple as a sans-serif font would make the one I am using more to my liking…)

  Just wanted to let you know that you can now select from a couple dozen fonts in the Customizer’s Fonts panel, if you’d like to check it out! Hope you like this new free feature.
