Previously sticky post is now showing at top/1st on the blog, but is not recent

  I have a post before February set as sticky so it would show in the slider, but now, when I removed the sticky feature from it, the post shows up at the top of/1st on my blog. The setting are the posts are supposed to show in date order. Newest first.

  By removing the ‘stick-ness’ it should not read as a new post… Especially since the posted date still says early Feb.

  Please advise. I would like to use the slider as a way to highlight older posts and update every once and a while, but now when I update it is lowing my most recent/newest posts…
