Priavte option missing settings
-
Hello,
After changing my privacy option from private to hidden, the option “Private”disappeared. I really want the site to be private.
I allready deleted all content and images to prevent others from seeing the content (it is for my comming wedding).
Please tell me how to set the site to private again or to reset ALL settings for my site.
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All those with upgrades have access to live chat support. You can access live chat by logging in to your WordPress.com account and going to this link: https://wordpress.com/help/contact

I really want the site to be private.
All support docs are at https://en.support.wordpress.com/ where the search box is the most prominent feature on the page.
See privacy Settings https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ -
I know there is a support site with a search box. As the question is stating, the option “Private” is missing entirely. So I have no possibility to change the site back to Private

re: http://mrandmrsflokstra.com/
You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.
You can update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.
If you did not register the site under your username account and do not have the required access, then you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it, and have them act or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
If the login information has been lost go to
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/
https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/#lost-passwordIf you check each and every possible email address and account and are not successful gaining access to the blog(s) then you must complete the form for account recovery at this link https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery and submit it to the Account Recovery Staff, and provide proof ownership, so they can contact you by email ie. not on these public support forums, which are available to everyone with internet access.
Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

Timethief, thank you for the answer on roles, but I am an Administrator and I have access to the site and it’s settings.
You are referring to the wp-admin section of the site, but the option should be in the WordPress.com settings (not in the wp-admin settings).
For the sake of testing, another site has been created using the same login. The Privacy settings have the following options:
Privacy
Save SettingsPublic
Your site is visible to everyone, and it may be indexed by search engines.Hidden
Your site is visible to everyone, but we ask search engines to not index your site.Private
Your site is only visible to you and users you approve. On the original site the option Private is missing.
Does it have something to do with the Plans? I use a Business plan.

After the blog’s owner logs in clicking this link should display all blogs registered under the same username account, including the hidden ones: https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php?page=my-blogs&show=hidden
Then see privacy settings https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
-
Then see privacy settings https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Timethief, tell me what options do you see when you go to the above link? Because I don’t see the option “Private
Your site is only visible to you and users you approve.”The option Private makes sure unauthorized (anonymous) visitors can’t see the entire site, but instead get’s the message:
“
This site is marked private by its owner. If you would like to view it, you’ll need two things:
A WordPress.com account. Don’t have an account? All you need is an email address and password — register here!
Permission from the site owner. Once you’ve created an account, log in and revisit this screen to request an invite.
If you already have both of these, great!
“The options-reading page gives options for individual blogs/pages and is not a site wide setting.

Hi @wjflok, when you added a custom theme or plugin to the site, it took away the default privacy option. You can go ahead and install a plugin that re-enables privacy though. Here’s one similar to our default:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/fx-private-site/You could also set up a Coming Soon page:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search/coming+soon/Also, if you’ll log in with your other account, you should be able to get live chat support at http://wordpress.com/help/contact — I hope that helps!
