Price augmentation 20% for EU citizens
-
On October 13 WP charged me 20% more for BUSINESS PLAN for 2023/2024. The explanation given afterwards was based on some “decision” taken to charge Europeans 20% additional. I could not find any trace of this information on the WP site. When this decision was taken? Where is the announcement? Why there is no public notice for this considerable augmentation of 20%?

Hi there,
I see we already helped with that via email. Should you have any more questions or need additional help, please follow up on the ticket.

Unfortunately not. There were no answers to my questions. The WP employees sent me numerous emails, but they have not send me the WP page where this measure concerning only the EU citizens is announced. Moreover on the site PURCHASE there is no augmentation of the other products mentioned. I would like to receive an answer why was I imperatively subjected to 20% price augmentation without any previous announcement, and without presenting any legal basis for this decision. WP colleagues have referred to a decision, but they have not announced it publicly, nor supplied the bill with the relevant legal explanation.

Hi, there!
If there is such a measure to augment the price 20% for the EU users of WP, I would like to receive a bill, where it is reflected. So far from October 13 when the error bill was sent I can not get a correct bill from WP, with the justification of the transaction. WP has initially sent me a wrong bill upgrading a domain upon your initiative. When I refused to pay it WP performed transaction nevertheless, in spite of my refusal, and obtained the amount. Later some de facto corrections were made, but I have not received the correct bill yet. I can not allow this error to persist, and I am waiting for the correct bill justifying the transaction, by now deduced to €360. I would like to underline that I am asking for a bill which is foreseen by law, because any financial transaction should be justified.

Hi @vandensky, just to confirm, are you referring to VAT? We’re required to charge taxes depending on your location, unless you enter details for tax exemption. Here are the details on our site:

I have been waiting for a correct bill from October 13, and I have not received it yet.13. It is not an exaggeration to ask for a bill for a transaction. WP obtained €360 from my bank account, but has not provided with a correct bill. The initial bill I was imposed I have refused to pay, because it was WP own initiative to upgrade one of my domains. I did not ask for it. When can I receive a correct bill for the transaction WP performed on October 13 for €360 ? I have to have my financial document in order.

I have been asking for a bill for the WP transaction for €360,00 on October 13-2023 for four weeks. The various explanations can not be a replacement of a bill, which is the only relevant legal financial document. Please send me a bill for the transaction you have performed. It is still absent after 4 weeks (!) of correspondence. I need to present it to relevant tax authorities as foreseen by law. Hopefully you will respect your engagement towards me as your client and fulfill your legal obligation presenting a relevant bill.

Today on November 13 in spite one month of correspondence I am still waiting for a bill for a transaction of €360,00 performed on October 13 by WordPress. The bill sent to me was irrelevant, and I refused to pay it. Afterwards there were additional errors made in hasty attempt to correct the initial error by ‘Happiness Engineers’. Today I reinstate my request for a bill for this transaction. Please do not send me your explanations, they are not the replacement of a bill, which is the only relevant legal document which I should present to tax authorities in my country. Hopefully WP will respect your engagement towards me as a client and send me a correct bill without further delay. Regards,

Hi there,
To avoid confusion I have merged your duplicate requests into this existing thread. Thanks for your understanding.
WP obtained €360 from my bank account, but has not provided with a correct bill. The initial bill I was imposed I have refused to pay, because it was WP own initiative to upgrade one of my domains.
To clarify, the original transaction was not for €360 and included the following items that were set to auto-renew in your account:
- €360 WordPress.com Business Plan renewal
- €26.40 domain renewal for europediplomatic.blog (which is the free domain you picked when purchasing the plan initially)
- €386.40 Total (includes €64.40 VAT)
- Receipt: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/85639346
Shortly thereafter you cancelled your domain for a refund:
- -€26.41 refund for europediplomatic.blog
- This refund includes -€4.40 VAT that were also returned
- https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing/85641015
We are not able to provide a manual bill for your initial purchase since it included a domain renewal at that time. However we have refunded the cost of the domain and the VAT that was charges for the domain purchase for your business records.
