Price Estimate Request

Hello — I would like to get a basic cost for launching an eCommerce site for my small business but am unclear with the info I am seeing on the WordPress website. I have a domain name registered with GoDaddy so that would be $13.00/yr for domain mapping (keeping it with GoDaddy). If I select the multipurpose biz site that would be an additional $300.00/yr ($25.00/monthly). What I am unclear on: does the business website charge of $300.00/yr ($25.00/monthly) also get charged on top of the multipurpose charge? So I don’t know if I would be looking at $313.00 or $613.00 annually for a small biz eCommerce site.

Thanks in advance for the clarification!

  • Hi there,

I have a domain name registered with GoDaddy so that would be $13.00/yr for domain mapping (keeping it with GoDaddy).

Domain mapping is not a separate upgrade. With any of our plans (except for the Blogger plan) you’ll be able to map as many domains as you like for free.

So I don’t know if I would be looking at $313.00 or $613.00 annually for a small biz eCommerce site.

You’ll be charged $300 per year if you purchase the Business plan. The domain mapping is included for free.

If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Hello — and thanks for your reply. So does the $300 / year include hosting of the website? …and is there an option for a single email address that reflects my domain name? If so what would be the charge? If not, what would the email extension be?

    Thanks again!

  • Hi,

So does the $300 / year include hosting of the website? …and is there an option for a single email address that reflects my domain name?

It does include managed hosting for the WordPress installation. It doesn’t automatically come with a true email inbox, only forwarders if you aren’t using another email service. We do resell Google’s email services, currently $50/year, but that is going up in early April. You’re also welcome to choose another email service if you prefer:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/

Also, while I’m guessing you know this already, you will need some sort of payment processor, and they usually have their own charges per purchase.
For WooCommerce you’ve got several options:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/store/payments/

Simple Payments currently just uses PayPal:

    I hope this helps!

Thank you for the response. It does prompt additional questions however.

So can the Google email address be added via WordPress? I currently use a Gmail address.

For payment processing I use Square. Can it be incorporated into the WordPress Business eCommerce website? …or do I need to set up a PayPal account?

  • So can the Google email address be added via WordPress? I currently use a Gmail address.

Gmail, no… not if it ends in @gmail.com if that makes sense. But Google Drive email, or an existing Google-based email address for a custom domain, sure. If you want staff to double check, let us know what the address is… if you’ll type it here it will be hidden from public view so only staff can see it. And we can use that to look for more information.

You wouldn’t be able to use our Simple Payments with Square, but they do have a WooCommerce integration:
