Price in $ and €
-
Hi,
I bought a new domain name two days ago but wondered about the price. It listed as $8 etc but I had to pay the same amount in Euros as I am living in Ireland. When I converted the total of what I had to pay from $26 in total, I should have paid around €19, but instead I paid €26.
16/08/2013 WP-FEE.COM 14/08 19: – 26.00 Euro
Can you please inform me why people in Europe have to pay more for private info and domain names so? This hardly seems fair to me!
Thanks,

The currency rates are not automatically calculated by using the official exchange rate, but manually defined taking into consideration several parameters: exchange rate, rounding requirements, local tax costs, etc. The fact that our EUR and USD prices are identical numbers is just a coincidence due to the exchange rate corresponding to the above parameters.
These rates are not set in stone though, and we’ll do our best to optimize and reduce them wherever possible.
Please let us know if you need any further assistance!

Thank you for your reply! Really appreciate it!
The different rates are hardly fair on European bloggers who choose WordPress as blogging platform though. Especially so when they want to run with the best American bloggers. I’m a big, big fan of WP and have redirected many of my friends to it, but since they are bases in Europe also, I hope they will not return to their previous platforms.
