Price list dor the available upgrade features

  • Unknown's avatar

where is the feature upgrade price list? I want to see exactly what is included in the Premium, and how much each individual feature would cost to se if the features I want are cheaper buying them individually. For instance, I do not need more storage.

Not trying to be cheap, I just am frustrated that you do not provide an easily findable price list and plan details.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You should be able to see each upgrade separately in your site’s Dashboard>Store

Assuming that you need all the upgrades in the Premium or the Business bundle then Bundles are the cheaper way to go.

See here for details of all 3 plans http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/ offered by WordPress.com.

See here for all upgrades http://en.support.wordpress.com/category/upgrades/

It’s so annoying that Staff have disabled the listing of available upgrades at this link for details in regard to all available upgrades. http://en.support.wordpress.com/upgrades/ and Volunteers have asked them to enable it again.

  • Unknown's avatar

I said “disabled” when in fact they redirected the link to this page http://store.wordpress.com/bundles/ Arrrggghhh!

I’m tagging this thread to ask Staff to get rid of that redirect and provide the link to all available upgrades again as requested here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/available-upgrades-support-doc?replies=5

I get that WPcom wishes to promote the Premium and Business Bundles and that the list of available upgrades and their cost individually can be found in every site’s Dashboard.

How much does it cost? is such basic information that it should be accessible to everyone, including potential users who haven’t signed up yet and who don’t have access to a Dashboard.

@rachelmcr-I don’t get the point of telling volunteers that we can find links to all the existing upgrades in the Support docs category page when for the most part the relevant Support docs themselves no longer list the cost of the individual upgrade but also redirect the user to the Bundles page?

the up sell thing is really starting to annoy some users when they can’t find just the domain mapping and all they see is the $ 99. bundle – some say they will just move on to somewhere else

Like I said, knowing how much something costs is basic information.

If users can’t justify the cost of the fixed upgrades Premium bundle because they don’t need a certain component, they won’t buy the bundle even at a 40% discount over buying the upgrades individually (even if they knew what those costs are). *kof*

Otherwise they need to work on their marketing psychology.

Mentioning the 40% discount over individual upgrades immediately creates a mental hurdle to want to know what the individual upgrades cost. Either give the individual costs on that page or remove that mental hurdle entirely. For example: The annual Premium Bundle for $99/year gives you everything you need to bring your site to the next level (whatever that is). Use your own domain name or buy one, enjoy extra storage space for uploading HD videos, audio, keep WPcom targeted ads off your site or join the WordAds program for sharing ad revenue, design the site of your dreams using exclusive design tools or go the distance by working directly with your site’s CSS. etc., etc.

At the other end of the spectrum is letting users make their own bundle of 3 or more upgrades in the Dashboard>Store>Store and apply a discount! (X% for 3, X% for 4, etc.) If a user chooses all the components of the Premium Bundle, then offer them the Premium Bundle at a 40% discount!

And that’s all the advice I intend to dispense today. That was about an hour’s worth of consulting. Where do I send the bill? :)

And removing individual upgrade information on the Premium Bundle page does not rule out the need to give people public access to a listing of all available upgrades and their cost. Just saying…

Thanks for comments. I just think not having the pricing and bundling information in a straightforward place where people can understand it leads to a level of distrust.

Why is it not here? Is there something in this bundle that I DO NOT WANT? Will the second year price now include something that makes the bundle price higher.

It is a lot like the bundling and potentially second-year pricing concerns that people have with the cable services and satellite services companies. Do you trust them to be clear and straightforward about what the product is going to cost in the long-term.

I bought the bundle, but I wish it had been easier.

I bought the bundle, but I wish it had been easier.

At the time you purchased the Bundle, the domain name and mapping upgrades were not available as individual upgrades, a decision that Staff later overturned.

If all you needed are the domain name and mapping, then you might want to consider asking for a refund for the additional parts of the Bundle that you had to purchase. You’re still within the 30-day refund limit for those (the domain part can only be refunded up to 48-hours after purchase).

    Just FYI and consideration.

the new cable company pricing is beginning to annoy – I have stopped recommending WordPress.com – – had two friends that need a new web site – looking at what they really need $ 40 – to $ 50- / having that cost them $ 99 was not something they wanted to do – they are both on budgets – one needed a site to help with job hunting

    bad ethics taste now

Am I confused about the following? I thought that the Premium Bundle also gets the buyer better access to support. That is one of the reasons I was OK with the Bundle was that support.

  • Unknown's avatar

The Premium Bundle gets you direct email support. Whether that is “better access to support” is a good question. You may get a faster response by searching the Support docs (first!) or in the forums from the forum volunteers. If we can’t answer the question, we tag it for Staff assistance.

    Best wishes from me.
