Prices not lining up?
-
So I finally thought about upgrading my wordpress account to a paid plan. Beforehand I looked up prices and it shows $5/mo for personal, $8/mo for premium. Okay, I can swing that – especially since I’m just dipping in from free to paid.
But when I’m actually on my account and tried to upgrade, it says $15/mo for personal, and $26/mo for premium.
What gives? How can I get to the “advertised” price?
I get sometimes companies will offer discounts to new customers (kind of lame for loyal customers) but in terms of a paid account, I WOULD be a “new” customer. And would these be “normal” prices – even if I started a new site to get the $5 or $8/month price, after a year would I be paying three times more?
It’s bumming me out because I honestly don’t even want the majority of the premium or personal “perks” – I really just want to get rid of the ads. A lot of them are super gross and I can’t even stomach to look at my own site anymore. I don’t care about the domain, extra space, etc. I just don’t want to see weird body parts and gross “don’t eat this!” food items on my friggin art blog!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The prices at https://wordpress.com/pricing/ are accurate throughout, would you please give us a link to where exactly you saw the higher prices?
The only time things wouldn’t match up is if we’re running a sale, which you’ll see under https://wordpress.com/plans when logged in and selecting your site.
Prices won’t be _higher_ than the advertised prices advertised at https://wordpress.com/pricing/ but they may be lower.
Also, please keep in mind that we only offer plans with annual billing, the monthly numbers are just for example.

I followed both your links. The first one: https://wordpress.com/plans is where I’m seeing the higher prices ($15/mo personal, $26/mo premium $149/mo e commerce)
Your second link: https://wordpress.com/pricing/ is where I’m seeing your LOWER prices. ($5/mo personal, $8/mo premium $45/mo e commerce)
You say the first link’s prices won’t be higher than those at the second link, but I am seeing the opposite. They are in some cases 3-4x higher. This is an issue because the first link is where I actually sign up to pay if I want to upgrade, so I would be paying up to 3x more than what you are saying should be the “highest” price.
I understand it is billed yearly, that is not my issue – I am using the monthly numbers because those are the only numbers you display.
Based on your response I’m hoping this is just a problem that can be corrected?
Like I said, I really just want to disgusting, filthy ads gone. I didn’t realize what my visitors were seeing until someone complained and I visited the site while logged out. After I couldn’t figure out your pricing scheme, I looked into migrating my site, but I’d rather stay if possible. I was looking online and saw you once (maybe as recent as a year ago) had a simple “ad-free” option for $30/year. I would gladly pay for that.

At https://wordpress.com/plans you are seeing the prices in Brazilian Real (R$), not in US$, as that’s the currency your account is currently set to. The “lower” prices you quote are the US Dollar prices.
When I view https://wordpress.com/pricing/ as your account I also see the prices in R$, exactly the same as on the plans page. If you’ve been looking at that page while logged out, you’ll see the US$ pricing instead.
In R$, Personal is R$15, Premium R$26, Business R$83 and eCommerce R$149, which in all cases are actually slightly cheaper than the cost in US$ if you do the currency conversion at current exchange rates.
If you’d prefer to pay in US$ rather than R$, let me know and I can switch your account currency for you.

Yes, I would like to switch to US currency! Thanks you. I don’t know why it’s in Brazilian in the first place. Is there a location setting I’m not aware of? I’m not in Brazil, I’m in the US. I don’t have any VPNs on. This is so weird.

Hi there,
I have changed the currency under your account from BRL to USD. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks!
