    Hi there, my name is Sam and I am currently in the process of setting up a small business start up.

    The reason for this message is to see if I was to pick WordPress to build the website is there a fixed amount of time that I am secured into for the contract for.
    I know for IONOS they were saying that it is a minimum of 1 year.

    You can pay monthly for a site here at WordPress.com but it does work out much more expensive in the long run. An annual plan gives you the option of a custom domain free for the first year. With the monthly plan you’d need to pay extra for a custom domain. Like most companies issuing domains, they are sold on an annual basis.

    If you don’t want to sell stuff, but just advertise your business you could build a free site and upgrade it later if and when you were ready.
