Hi there —
This is a public forum, so be careful about sharing private info.
If you’re looking to build a site, you might want to check out our plans. We do offer a plan for business customers: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
If you have any specific questions, I’m happy to answer them. You can also reach us at help (at) WordPress.com

I am about to pay for my domain name thru WordPress my question is are there other mandatory fees I need to allocate in order to start building my site. I m building a Simple site to promote music.

Hi @bredcoproductions, each plan includes all of its listed features. You can add on extras like email addresses and what not, but these are not required for building a site. I hope that helps.

This page, https://wordpress.com/pricing/
as of June 6, 2016, says this:Premium
WordPress.com Premium
$99 per month, billed yearlyBusiness
WordPress.com Business
$299 per month, billed yearlyIs this a misprint? Or are the costs suddenly prohibitive?
Thank you,
Ed H -
Hi @edhamilton9, we do currently require plans with custom domains. This helps us keep free sites free and provide better support.

OK. but read it closely. Is it really $99 a month? That would be almost $1200 a year. And you only bill someone once a year for that amount?
I really think it is a misprint. I think they meant $99/year, billed monthly, not the other way around.
Same with the business plan — $299 per month? I don’t think so.
But it is a moot point for me, since I decided to stick with my wordpress.org site and battle the bots and hackers on my own. Those are the main things I would pay $99/year for.
-
P.S. I’m only basing it on what the cost used to be, very recently. Maybe the prices did go up 12x in the past year or so, since I looked last.

Yes, you’re definitely correct. But I don’t see $99/month on the pricing page at:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
It says $8.25 per month, billed yearly. Can you send us a screenshot of what you can see? It sounds like a bug.
Just to clarify the pricing, it is $99/year for Premium and $299/year for Business.

When you said you didn’t see it I looked again. It has something to do with NoScript.
When I have NoScript turned on, I see the incorrect prices. When I turned it off, the correct prices displayed.
If I allow only the top domain, wordpress.com, I still see incorrect prices. When I allow wp.com, I see correct prices.
So if a visitor comes to the page with NoScript activated completely, they will see the wrong prices. If the visitor has chosen to always allow the top domain on a page–which is one of the options in NoScript–he/she will still see the incorrect prices.
If you still want the screenshots, let me know. Where do I send them? I don’t see a way to attach them here.

@rachelsquirrel
Hello again. I thought I would see what the Chrome browser would do, using ScriptSafe.Similar behavior. Allowing the top domain made no difference. And it seems ScriptSafe is more specific. Allowing s1.wp.com made no difference. Allowing scorecardResearch made no difference.
But allowing s2.wp.com allowed the correct prices to display.

The problem is in the original html on the page, which makes sense. The scripts are hiding the problem, not causing it. I looked at the source of https://wordpress.com/pricing/, and it says:
<h5><span class=”price-premium-plan”>$99</span> per month, billed yearly</h5>
<h5><span class=”price-business-plan”>$299</span> per month, billed yearly</h5>
