  Good day. I am new to WordPress and did not realise I would have to pay for a domain name as the research I did stated that there will be no costs (please correct me if I am wrong), so that is the reason I want to delete my account as I can’t afford it.

  Indeed it is possible to have a free account. The free account will come with a domain that ends with .wordpress.com. For example yourgroovysite.wordpress.com.

  You only have to pay if you would like a unique domain. Paid plans also come with extra features.
