Pricing to maintain blog

    Hi,

Our blog (simmonsvoice.wordpress.com) is the online sources for Simmons College’s weekly newspaper.

We are currently budgeting for next year, and I was looking to talk to someone about the pricing for the upkeep of this blog next year.

I was just hoping that I could get an official quote for the continued use of the simmonsvoice.wordpress.com blog, as well as the pricing to maintain the domain thesimmonsvoice.com.

Thank you, and I’m looking forward to hearing back from you soon.

    Best,

I was just hoping that I could get an official quote for the continued use of the simmonsvoice.wordpress.com blog, as well as the pricing to maintain the domain thesimmonsvoice.com.

simmonsvoice.com is set as the primary domain for simmonsvoice.wordpress.com and will appear in the address bar when you visit the site.

The underlying .wordpress.com blog is provided free of charge and is hosted free of charge.

Registering a domain through WordPress.com starts at $18.00 per domain, per year and the annually renewal fee is $18.00 per year per domain for the domain and domain mapping.

All upgrades must be paid for in full at the time of purchase. No purchase orders or invoices can be used.

You must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog who is Admin of the blog to purchase and/or renew upgrades for the blog. If you’d like your upgrade to renew automatically each year, you can Enable Auto Renew.

Your Billing History is at Dashboard > Store > Billing History

Below are the only accepted means of payment.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/payment/

WordPress.com uses PayPal as the payment processor, and as such, can only accept payment from countries they support: https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/

If for whatever reason, they have chosen to block payment from your country, you will not be able to purchase an upgrade here unless you have a source of payment outside of your country. Note: You can buy a prepaid credit card from an approved country.

In addition to major credit cards Mastercard, VISA, American Express, Discover, and PayPal https://www.paypal.com/worldwide/ WordPress.com can accept echecks and some debit cards.

The debit card must have a VISA or Mastercard symbol on it, and should work just like a credit card when selecting the VISA or Mastercard option on the payment form, even though it’s a debit card.

So I just looked at our billing history, and I’m still a little confused.

In our “upcoming charges” section, it says there will be a $26 fee in February of 2016 to maintain the domain name. We also just paid a $26 fee to maintain the domain name for this year.

We used to have a premium account, but it looks like we haven’t yet paid our $99 for this year (the last payment was in March of 2014).

Did we incur the $26 charge because our premium account ran out? If we re-establish our premium account, does the $99 cover the domain name fee?

Basically what I’m trying to figure out is if (for next year) we will be paying both the $99 and the $26 charges, or just the one $99 fee.

I’m sorry, I’m really horrible at all this budgeting/money stuff.

    re: $26.00 per year
    see here:

Registering a domain through WordPress.com starts at $18.00 per domain, per year (see below for a detailed price list)
Domain owners are required to share their contact information. The $8.00 Private Registration upgrade will protect your identity and hide your contact information.

    Hi there!

You previously purchased WordPress.com Premium for $99 in March, 2013. WordPress.com Premium comes with a free domain credit and so simmonsvoice.com was registered as part of this plan.

This year, WordPress.com Premium was cancelled and only simmonsvoice.com was renewed. You were therefore only charged the $26 cost for your domain.

If you wish to upgrade back to WordPress.com Premium, the cost of the domain would be included again and you’d only need to pay $99. If you’re OK without the plan then you’ll only need to pay $26 for the renewal of your domain. :)

Hope that’s clear! Please do let me know if you have any extra questions.
