Pricing with an existing domain
-
Hi, I created my website several years ago in another platform and I’m considering to move it to WordPress now. Before I do that I wanted to better understand the different plans. The Personal as well as Premium says that a free domain is included for one year. Here, I have two questions:
– How much am I charged afterwards?
– I already have an existing domain. How does pricing look like for this case?I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

How much am I charged afterwards?
It depends on the TLD of your domain –
.comdomains would renew at $18 for a year. If you have a different domain TLD, let us know and we can find the specific registration charges for you.I already have an existing domain. How does pricing look like for this case?
While you would still need a paid plan to use that domain as your primary domain here at WordPress.com, it depends on whether or not you transfer the domain to us or keep the domain at your current domain registrar.
If you transfer it to us, you need to pay for the domain registration here annually on top of your plan charge. If you keep the domain at your current registrar, the domain connection would be included in your plan pricing but you would need to renew the domain at your current registrar separately from your plan here.
I hope that clarifies things!

Just for clarification.
That’d mean, if I go with the Premium Plan, the costs are 8€ per month (96€ for the year) plus around 18$ for the domain for the year. So in total around 110€ per year, right?!The TLD of my domain is .international
Thank you for your help!

Hi there,
If you choose monthly pricing over yearly pricing (purchasing 12 months at a time) it is more costly.
In this case, the monthly cost of the Premium plan is €14/month + domain costs.
That’d mean, if I go with the Premium Plan, the costs are 8€ per month (96€ for the year) plus around 18$ for the domain for the year. So in total around 110€ per year, right?!
As I mention above, if you chose the yearly plan it is €96 for the year, but you do need to pay the whole year up front. The good new is that if you choose the yearly option a domain is provide for you free for the first year.
It sounds like you already have a domain, so if you purchase the Premium Plan your domain transfer to us would be free (we will waive the cost) and then when your domain gets here we tack on a free year of domain registration, so in your case I would definitely recommend the yearly option for Premium.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
