Primary and Secondary Menus
-
Can anyone recommend a free theme that looks something like Illustratr but which allows for secondary dropdown menus? What I want is for visitors to be able to hover over the main menu items and be presented with a second-tier menu for any of those items.
Have just spent a couple of days reworking my blog and I have all these pages that are now effectively hidden, because I changed my theme to Illustratr without realising it didn’t allow for those secondary menus.
I’m pretty confident my secondary menus are set up correctly and all good to go, I just need a theme that can support this. I’m a visual artist so ideally want a theme that allows for strong visuals.
Help please?
Thank you.

Hello there,
When looking at the preview for Illustratr, I see that there are sub menu/ dropdown menus available to use. So all of your hard work is not going to go to waste :) As you can see here if you click on the live demo mode: https://wordpress.com/theme/illustratr
Setting up menus can be a bit confusing (trust me, it took me sometime to figure it out as well). Perhaps I can provide a link that will help to guide you through just to see if what you have done needs to be adjusted.
Here is a great link that explains how to add sub menus (or secondary menus): https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/ . If you scroll down the page to #3 you will see how to add the sub menus :)
Please let me know if this helps or if you need further help.

Hi there, as Amanda said, Illustratr supports several levels of submenus. Here’s a screenshot from my test site:
Your menu does not currently have any sub-menus set up – all items are at the same top level, as you can see here:
Once you create a sub-menu following the guide Amanda provided, you should be all set.
Let us know how it goes or if you get stuck at any step.
