Hi there,
WordPress.com automatically forwards all “www” versions of domains to the root version of the domain. The “www” part of a domain is left over from the early years of the Internet when the architecture of domains was different. It isn’t necessary anymore and only slows things down.
The www version of your domain will always work though. If you would like to give it out to visitors or print it on business cards, you’re welcome to! The only difference is that it won’t show up that way in your location bar.

Hi there,
No, there isn’t a way to have the “www” appear in your browser’s address bar, because WordPress.com automatically forwards that version to the root version of the domain. However, if you or anyone else types that in or visits that address, it will still work to get you to your site. :)

Some sites using the WordPress software from http://wordpress.org/ with other website hosts. In that case, they may have their domain set up with the “www” subdomain. However, sites hosted at WordPress.com using domain mapping will always have the “www” version automatically forwarded to the root version of the domain. :)
