Primary domain
-
I registered a domain via WordPress a few weeks ago and I’m trying to use it as my site’s primary domain. For doing this, it seems that I need a paid plan. Is this true? I have another site, opened some years ago, on a free plan and with a registered domain, and there’s no issue on using my domain as primary.
Any help would be much appreciated.
The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff).

Hi,
The short answer is you will need the Domain Mapping upgrade to do that and Domain Mapping is included in all WordPress.com paid plans. There was a time when Domain Mapping was available individually. But that has not been the case for a number of years now (except for renewals by customers who purchased it when it was available).

Once you have purchased a plan, here is a support document that will explain how to set up Domain Mapping with your domain:

Take a look at those links and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

Ok, thank you very much. Everything is a bit clearer now :)
Regarding the plans, I see that they include a domain, but I’ve just purchased one (on WordPress). Is there a way of refunding, in case a purchase a paid plan?

We have absolutely no history of domains, purchases, transactions, or billing activity of any kind under the account you’re currently logged into.
What is the domain name you purchased?

Totally true. My fault I didn’t give enough details. Sorry about that. We are two people working on the site. The domain is juantorresblog.com and it was purchased under my colleague’s account.

Hi there,
The free domain in the plan only applies to domains registered as part of the plan. If you already have a domain and then buy a plan you do not receive a discount for the domain you already have, but you will still have the free domain credit available in the plan to use for another domain.
