Primary Domain Not Working Because Old Domain Expired. cont

    Hello,
My issue: “Primary Domain Not Working Because Old Domain Expired”

This was covered under the above title before but the solution invoved a ‘Happiness engineer’ and the topic is now closed.

    To quote:
” In that case it was fixed by intervention by WordPress staff, and I’m hoping the same can be done here.

The issue is that we have chosen to let our domain expire and set our primary back to ——-.wordpress.com, but now whenever I visit the site I get a banner in front of the content saying that the domain expires. This banner cannot be dismissed, leaving the site inaccessible to me. We don’t want to renew the domain, I just want to get rid of the banner.”

My sites intrastink.wordpress and wennreddy.wordpress require simmilar attention please.
    Thankk you.
(Is there not an easier way?!)

    Hello,
Log into the WordPress.com account that you used to buy the upgrade. From your Dashboard go to Store > My Upgrades. Next to the domain, click the cog icon, then click the cancel link. Here’s more info about cancelling upgrades: https://en.support.wordpress.com/my-upgrades/#canceling-upgrades

micawbr, thank you very much for your attention,
however…I may be silly but neither ways to >my upgrades offer me this cog icon of which you speak! And that support sheet offers narry a word about retuning from an upgrade back to a plain old .wordpress site. However, >my upgrades does say ‘Cancellation Pending’ in red alongside my two problem sites, if that is something I should be happy about?
Appologies if my stupidity is the flaw in this system.

I’m sorry that didn’t solve the problem. I’ve tagged this for a WordPress.com staff member to assist,

I need help with the steps to reactivate my expired wordpress site mykarekit.com. I can still see content on the blog “https://mykarekitblog.wordpress.com/” so I thought my blog was still active and domain on auto renew and all mapped out.

Can I still post to my blog without the domain mapping until I have the domain issue resolved? I am frightened that I’ve lost access to content with an extended and unintended period of being offline. Please help with steps to reactivate

  • @oifohgotori – thanks for letting us know. Usually you can just click “cancel” on the notice if you purchased the domain. I’ve corrected that for you.

  • @keenorr84 I’ve fixed yours as well.

To anyone else who bumps into this thread: if you see that note, please try clicking “Cancel this domain” while logged in. If you need more help, reply to one of your billing emails or open a thread here. Thanks!

  • Oh, and to both of you: if you still see the expiration notice, try closing your browser completely then opening it again to clear out the old page. Cheers!

    Thanks for your work team!

  • Cheers! I’ll close this one out since things can get complicated when there’s more than one issue in a thread. But if anyone needs more help, feel free to open a new thread.
