Primary navigation menu question
-
Hi,
I want to place an item on the primary navigation menu that does not function as a link. Rather, when hovering over that primary navigation menu item, the sub items are displayed and clickable, which is how I now have it set up.
Currently, the primary nav menu item is clickable, and when clicked leads to a page that states “Nothing Found” and “It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.”
I don’t want this primary nav menu item to be clickable (as a link). Rather, I want it so that when hovering over it, the sub items are displayed and can be clicked and linked to the page.
Is this possible?
Thanks for your help.

Hello there,
This is totally possible, you would need to add a custom link as a menu item and the link would be a # symbol.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
That totally did it. Thanks so much for your help.
However, I noticed that in the mobile view, when clicking on the category, nothing happens. I’m guessing this is because the parent category is not a page.
One needs to click on the down arrow of the parent category to open up the subcategory, which is then clickable/link-able.
I think readers would just want to click anywhere on the parent category field instead of thinking to click specifically on the down arrow.
Is this simply a limitation of the way I have things set up? Or is there a way around this — other than making the parent category a link itself?

Howdy!
Looking at the mobile view of the site, I can see that there’s a down arrow next to the menu items. This design visual for mobile visitors indicates that there’s sub menu items listed.
On desktop view of the site, there’s a hover feature to indicate that there are additional items. That hover feature is not transferrable to a mobile interaction of the site because we can’t hover with a mouse on mobile browsing.
With that said, I believe things are set up properly. I was able to navigate through all the menu and sub menu items from my phone. If more help is needed, please indicate which menu and sub menu items are involved.
