print button on WordPress blog

I am unable to print posts or recipes off my blog. I followed the embedded recipe short codes and they will not print when I press print. I then tried to print the whole post with the print button under the post and it wouldn’t work either. I am not able to print out anything. Please help!

I copied this note from another request for help because it is the same problem I am having. However, mine is not resolving as the previous poster’s did. Thanks!

I had a friend try to print from my site, and she was able to. I just can’t.

Are you referring to the Print link on the recipe shortcode? I just tried from the Sunbutter bars recipe in both Firefox 44 and Chrome 48 on a Win7Pro PC and did so without problem.

What browser and version are you using as well as OS? Also, is javascript and browser cookies enabled?

Excuse me while I go wipe the drool off my keyboard…

We are using Windows 10 and IE11. Javascript and browser cookies are enabled. When Print is selected, the printer window opens, but the content is not sent to the printer. If wordpress.com is added to the compatibility settings (Tools -> Compatibility View Settings), the web page expands the width of the page and the right panel on the web page disappears. However, printing works. To determine if this is a PC or IE11 related issue, Mozilla Firefox was installed. Navigated to web page and we were able to print a recipe. It also works with Chrome on Windows 10.

Therefore, if we use Mozilla or Chrome, printing works. IE11 does not. I will use Mozilla to print my recipes.

    Thank you for your help.

    Thanks for those additional details.

As you mention, WPcom breaks if used in compatibility mode in IE11. Regardless, I’ve tagged this thread for Staff attention to note the problem with the recipe shortcode.

So now I ‘m on my netbook, using Win10 and IE11 and while it took forever for the print popup to appear after clicking Print on the recipe, it did eventually. Perhaps there is another problem specific to your configuration that is preventing the pop up from appearing, such as a blocker of some sort.

Can you temporarily disable any browser add-ons you are using and see if you are able to print?

Let us know how that goes.

At second look at your above reply I understand it is not the print dialog window that is the issue, but I’m almost certain this is a Win10/IE11 issue rather than a WPcom issue. I also could not get either print driver (XPS or PDF) to respond to the print command after clicking the print button in the Windows print pop up dialog. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I can try later using MSEdge, which is supposed to be better at web standards than IE11.

Yes, it works in Edge, both OXPS and PDF. I’ve removed the modlook tag.

OK. Thanks for looking into it. If your tech team finds a solution to IE11, please let us know. Thanks again.
