Print CSS (remove / modify?)
-
Hello,
I’ve performed some serious modification to my blog and unfortunately this has resulted in the “Print View” to look god awful:
http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&srcid=0B39bNq-jeJkpMGJiNTE5ZjUtYTBhMi00YzA0LTliNzYtYTI5MjQ1MmRkNTIz&hl=enIdeally I’d like to remove the “print css” and simply have it print the webpage. If nothing else, I need it to be at least presentable. My biggest problem is removing the ride side bar — I can’t seem to make it disappear to allow the text to go across the entire page.

I’m not sure you can set specific printing styles even with the CSS upgrade but maybe someone else knows for sure. The workaround I would recommend is adding a service like print what you like to the sharing features, the standard print option does not always format well as you have noted but this one gives the user a choice of what elements to remove prior to printing.

Hi Veraxpoint,
If you want to remove the “Print” using css just modify the following one
.sharing li, .sharing-hidden li
{
————-
display: none;
—————
}and if you want to give your readers a printable version page, I think, there are some free softwares which could make your webpage in PDF format, you can use it also.

Uh, if you want to remove the Print, just remove it from your Sharing options. No CSS modification required.

Yes,
I do agree with you raincoaster, actually my answer was related to if he wants to remove by using css..What veraxpoint wrote:
Ideally I’d like to remove the “print css” and simply have it print the webpage.
Thanks Again

Regrettably allaboutbasic and raincoaster, that’s not what I’m trying to remove.
If you look at the base CSS of Twenty Ten
http://s0.wp.com/wp-content/themes/pub/twentyten/style.css?m=1293598205g&minify=false
you’ll see a section called “Print Style” which modifies the page whenever someone hints the print button, clicks “File > Print”, presses control-P, etc.It does stuff like remove the background images and colors, takes out widgets, and adjust text sizes. I’d much rather have my page print out in its full glory and would like to remove the “Print Styles” manipulation of my page.
Thanks,
Mitch
