I would like to print the header image with the page. Can this be done? It’s WordPress.com, 2011 theme, Windows 7 os printing on a hard line to an HP Deskjet.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

There is an option to print directly from your blog using the sharing services. Enabling the print option using the sharing service –– will give you a print button on all your posts and pages. You can go to MySites->Sharing, click on the tab “Sharing Buttons” and add the Print button to all your content. You can learn more about it here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

There are services like FastPencil and BlogBooker that let you import your WordPress blog and turn it into a printed book.

There is a WordPress.com blog that you might find useful, and it covers how you go about making your blog into a book and provides other service options:
    https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2012/04/04/how-to-turn-your-blog-into-a-book/

    Hope that helps.

Please let me know if it resolved your issue.

    Thank you.

Thank you iamrishaan. I added the sharing print button and appreciate that, I think it will benefit my readers. It has not resolved the issue as the page continues to print without the header image, and does so after I have closed the blog and then re-entered to ensure the changes were stored before re-opening. I suspect an issue or design limit with 2011 as this is true of several other 2011 blogs I have tested, although I have not tested it against other themes. Jim

    Hi there,

I am tagging this question with the modlook tag on the Tags section of the sidebar for staff advice on the same.

    Thank you for your patience.

    Hi jamesamorrison,

Most sites (not just those on WordPress.com) have separate styles for printing which are often optimised to save ink. This means background and header images are automatically removed when the data is sent to your printer.

You can see which images will be printed by clicking File > Print on your browser and selecting the PDF option rather than your printer.

It won’t be possible to force these images to print but there may be some additional settings on your print dialogue box. My Canon printer has a print backgrounds option but unless the images are there is the first place, they won’t be printed.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello gemmacevans. Thank you, you have confirmed my thoughts on this matter. I did test some of my other blogs and also looked at other WP.com blogs on the net and found similar limitations. I looked into my print dialog box, found options for print backgrounds but could see from print preview that the output did not include the header image. I am grateful for the clarification and to find that it is not something I have forgotten or overlooked on my side of the cable. Thanks to you, and to iamrishaan for your assistance.

    Hi jamesamorrison,

You’re very welcome! As you mentioned, this is intended behaviour rather than something you are overlooking. Creating a screenshot may be an option if you want post or page to print exactly as it appears online — but this would be a fiddly task with longer posts and pages.
