Privacy and Spam Mails ?

    Hello you all,
I just started my blog: http://www.brondylove.com and now I got spam mails on my email adress from people. They want to help me build my website… Well no thanks!

    – How do I get rid of it? And from where did they get my E-Mail adress?!!!!!!!
-Do these people see the email adress which I use in my profile?
I don’t want to make this email adress public ! I don’t know if I change it, will the emails from wordpress be sent also to another email adress?!

Please do something about it. Because I cannot see my profile (or look at it). I have no idea where to go and look at my profile.

They also tried to log into my wordpress severall time (which I don’t understand, my site is totally new and still empty). I use wordfence and they sent me several emails, but weird enough on the wordfence plugin itself is no blocked IP’s even if they said so :/

    Please help
    thank you

    Hello,

Your site is not actually hosted on WordPress.com, it is a self-hosted site using the software from WordPress.org, so our ability to support you is very limited.

I would guess though, that they are getting you address from the publicly-available WHOIS record of your custom domain:

    http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=brondylove.com

You may wish to contact your registrar and add “Private Registration” to your domain for additional privacy which will hide your email address.

Thank you soooooo much ! You helped me a lot and saved my life ;D

I can’t believe they just put all the information out there. I contacted the registrar right away and changed my infos on there. (: they told me they cannot make it private because of some policy stuff (and they need to have the name) but I can change my adress + number to a fake adress, so I did. Now I wait 24 hours til they change it.

I can’t express how grateful I am :) Thank you! Hope you have a great weekend

For future reference please note that that site is not hosted by wordpress.com and our support doc do not apply to it. We do not provide support for it. You are posting to the wrong support forum to get help with that site.

WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, https://wordpress.org/support/register.php so you can post to the support forums there.
    Resetting your WordPress.ORG password http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password
WordPress.org support docs are at https://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page

change my adress + number to a fake adress,

Internet rules do require a valid contact info for a domain name owner – so you are probably in violation of some internet ICAN rules – private registration puts a third party between you and the public so any contact goes through the third party

Some people use a PO box for the address (I do) – if you have a friend with a PO box maybe you could work a deal

I just ignore the email (used to be regular mail – the first scam one scared the heck out of me)

Also depending on exactly what you changed – your renewal notice could be sent to a bad email address and your name could not be renewed and would lapse and kill your web site – also if someone filed a DMCA complaint against your site – you might not know there was an issue until your site went down

I am surprised that your registrar does not offer some sort of Privacy option –

I get spam email about my site on a regular basis, first one was a bit of a concern until I went over the fine print – now I just delete them – once in a while if one is quite creative I will forward it to my ISP that used to be my host and still hosts my email

    Welcome to the internet!!
