Privacy and user login
-
I have set my blog to private and sent invitations to users so they could create login information. However, it seems like after a few times, they can’t login anymore. Says that “you can’t edit this item” I am getting frustrated because I want to keep the blog private but at the same time I want my family and friends to see it. They are getting frustrated because they can’t get in half of the time. Do they just need to clear cookies or history? Not sure how to solve this issue…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If they are unable to log in with the WordPress.com username and password they set up in order to view your Private site, then yes, clearing browser cache and cookies is always good advice. They should also be browsing with any of the up to date browsers mentioned here: http://browsehappy.com (Chrome and Firefox are preferred.)
However, the error “you can’t edit this item” doesn’t seem relevant for people who are only trying to log in and view your site, so I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to this thread so that you’ll see their reply.

Hi pennedinmyownwords,
I see four private viewers on your site. They will not be able to edit anything – they will just be able to see the site which is otherwise private.
If they are having difficulty, please ask them to log out of WordPress.com, clear their browser cache, and then try logging back in, and then navigating back to your site.
